The 'looking for capital' service
The ‘looking for capital’ service is designed to give investors easy access to information about interesting social businesses. Listing a social business on the site as ‘looking for investment’ will therefore give it access to a greater pool of potential investors than it might otherwise have.
This is a new service and you may have questions about it- please feel free to contact Simon Evill or Julia Meek about any queries and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
Listing your social business as ‘looking for capital’
If you want to list your company as 'looking for capital' we require that you are profiled on socialinvestments.com. Profiling is currently a free service, and for details of introduction fees (these will only be incurred in the event of completed investment) see the 'socialinvestments.com fees' section.
If you are not yet profiled on the site, the best thing to do is to contact Simon Evill. There is currently a queue to get on the site but companies that are seeking capital and are not yet listed will be prioritised.
If you are already profiled on the site, the procedure is as follows- if at any point you have any questions or queries, please contact Simon:
- Go to your profile and click the ‘Edit ‘looking for capital’ status’ button in the top right hand corner.
- Fill in the details, as outlined in the form, and then click ‘Proceed to terms and conditions’. Please take care not to 'sell' an investment in your company. We must stress that: This web site and the information included herein, is intended to provide information only and is not intended to be and must not be construed as investment advice nor to promote any investment. Information is provided for the purpose of increasing the knowledge of website users only and is not an offer or solicitation to buy or sell any investment.
- Read through these thoroughly (for a printable copy click here) and click the agree/ don’t agree box, then click submit for approval. Clicking ‘agree’ means that you accept the terms and are willing to pay a 3% introduction fee for any successful investment.
- We will then contact you to make sure that this is authorised information and that any edits we make to the message are approved by you. Nothing will be published without us talking to the author of the ‘looking for capital’ form.
- If all is well, we will publish the information on the site, and send you an email confirming the terms of the agreement.
- A green icon will appear next to the company name in the directory,
the extra information will appear prominently on the company profile
and any investor searching for companies that are looking for
investment will come up with a list including your company name.
We are really excited about this service and hope that it works as a means of increasing the flow of capital to the sector. If you have any suggestions on how to improve it as a service please let us know using the feedback forms.
If an investor is interested
They will click on the 'Contact this company' button on your profile, next to the Investment Information, and fill in an email form expressing their interest in investing in the company.
Note to investors: We provide this service merely in order to enable you to communicate with the company and we do not provide any other service to you or the company. All services provided by this website are subject to our standard Terms and Conditions. An investor should ensure that she has taken appropriate independent advice before making any decision to invest in a company.
This email will, for now, come to socialinvestments.com and we will forward it on to you. This process is under review and we will let you know if it changes.
We will make a follow up call if we do not hear anything from you within a month.
socialinvestments.com fees
In order to list your social business as ‘looking for capital’ you must first accept the terms of an online form (for a printable copy click here). The form is legally binding and states that socialinvestments.com is entitled to 3% of any investment that is made as a result of an introduction made through the site. We will follow up with companies that we know have been contacted through the site (initially the email from interested investors will come via us) but would obviously prefer it if you contacted us first!
